PDF Form Benefits – Detailed

Online/Offline Availibility – PDF forms can be downloaded and completed offline. This allows forms to be completed when all of the information has been gathered without placing any time limits on the person completing the form.

Accessibility – Form objects can be made accessible to a wide range of users. PDF forms support assisitive technologies and features including:

  • Adding text description to images & logos
  • Providing document structure for headings, tables and lists which can be understood by screen reading devices
  • Tab & reading order can be set to make it easy to navigate through a form

Adobe Reader – the free Adobe Reader software can be used to complete, print, digitally sign as well as save PDF forms. This means that customers do not require any additonal software. The Adobe Reader is available for various platforms including Windows, OS X and Linux (additional device platforms are also supported)

Print – PDF forms can be designed to be printed where forms need to be supplied in paper form and can support barcodes.

Interactivity – PDF forms can be made interactive containing form objects such as text fields, drop down lists and check boxes. All of these provide an easy to use interface for users to complete their forms.

Scripting - in order to create smart interactive forms, scripting can be applied to PDF forms that allows the forms to behave in the best way for a user to complete the forms by adding features such as dynamically expanding areas, calculations and validation.

Digital Signatures – Where an eform has been completed by a user it makes sense to complete the process by signing and authorising the form electronically. Digital signatures provide a method of validating that a speciifc user has completed a form and validating the form from a trust perspective.
